Seberang Prai City Council (MBSP) hosted its traditional Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration after a gap of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

More than 1,000 guests attended the open house held at the city council headquarters in Bandar Perda, Penang.

Among the VIPs spotted were former MBSP mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud, state executive councillor Chong Eng, Jawi assemblyman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye and Sunway Group founder and chairman Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah.

MBSP mayor Datuk Azhar Arshad and secretary Baderul Amin Abdul Hamid welcomed guests who included council staff.

The open house featured about 20 stalls serving traditional dishes including roti jala, fried koay teow, lemang, ketupat, laksa, satay, soto, apam balik, pak tongko and rojak.

Guests were entertained with Raya songs performed by city council staff on stage.

Baderul Amin thanked everyone who attended.

A group of “Wira Oren” workers was on standby to clean up after guests finished their food.
