‘Get second booster before Gawai festival’

Vulnerable groups, including those with comorbidities and over 60 years old, have been advised to get their second booster shot against Covid-19 before the Gawai celebration.

Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said this would protect them during the celebration as open houses would now be allowed.

He was speaking at a 2022 pre-Gawai Dayak luncheon organised by the Bumiputra unit of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Dudong branch in Sibu.

The SUPP president said Sarawak had the highest vaccination rate in Malaysia due to strong cooperation from the people.

This has enabled the government to relax the restrictions for festival celebrations, he added.

Dr Sim also thanked loyal SUPP members who helped the party and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) achieve a big victory in the Dec 18 state elections last year.

“In Sibu, SUPP won the Bukit Assek and Pelawan state seats. All this is due to the hard work of party members and the people’s confidence in us,” he said.
