THE Selangor government will be rolling out an early detection programme for a list of diseases called "Program Selangor Saring".
In a statement Friday (May 13), state Public Health Committee chairman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said health screenings allowed individuals to detect diseases and start treatment early, which improved their chances of recovery.
In the Selangor Budget 2022, she said the state allocated RM3.4mil for the programme that targeted some 39,000 beneficiaries.
“There are three categories of screening. Firstly, for non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and kidney disease.
“Second category will be for cancer including colorectal, prostate, cervical and breast cancer.
“The last category will be for diseases related to eyes such as blindness, glaucoma and retinal disease,” she said.
Dr Siti Mariah said the state urged those with health risks and have not been diagnosed to register for the programme via Selangkah application starting May 16.
“Applicants are required to register their details. Successful applicants will be given a voucher for the health screening at a time and place, for free.
