KAJANG assemblyman Hee Loy Sian expressed dismay over the delay in roadworks to repair the pothole-ridden Persiaran Mahkota Cheras 1 in Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Selangor.

He visited the site but found contractors had not begun to mill and resurface a dangerous 100m stretch there.

“Motorists have complained about the damaged stretch before the Jalan Inang junction.

“Excuses have been given for not getting the roadworks done,” he said.

Hee, who is also Selangor tourism, environment, green technology and Orang Asli affairs committee chairman, told Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) staff, who were at the site, to get the contractor to start work immediately.

“I have been told that work on the road will begin soon and will take three days.

“I want the road to be milled before the new layer of tar is added.

“It must be done soon as public safety is paramount,” he reiterated.

MPKj councillor Lim Kim Eng, who was present during the visit, was also upset over the delay.

Towards the end of the visit, a motorcyclist travelling on Persiaran Mahkota Cheras 1 skidded and fell due to stones on the stretch.
