IT was a joyous Hari Raya Aidilfitri for underprivileged students from B40 families when they received school supplies and food baskets from S P Setia Foundation.

The foundation handed over vouchers, each worth approximately RM200, for school supplies to the Selangor Education Department for distribution.

The supplies included two full sets of uniforms and one school bag, for more than 960 students in six schools in Selangor.

The beneficiaries were from SK Pulau Indah, SK Sungai Lui, SK Taman Sri Muda, SK Taman Sri Muda 2, SK Padang Jawa and SK Seksyen 24, in areas which suffered one of the worst flash floods last December.

“S P Setia Foundation has always been committed to supporting B40 students and families.

“We hope our contribution will not only reduce their burdens but also lighten their hearts during this festive season,” said S P Setia executive vice-president Datuk Yuslina Mohd Yunus.

The foundation also spread cheer to 30 pupils at SK Semenyih, one of the schools adopted under the Setia Caring School Programme (SCSP), by gifting them with food baskets last month.

The foundation will continue the distribution of food baskets to 240 students of eight other schools under the SCSP in Selangor, Penang and Johor.

The food baskets, worth a total RM32,400, consisted of essentials such as rice, noodles, oats, sugar, biscuits, canned food and instant beverages.

The foundation said the objective of the effort was to help families who were struggling to put food on the table during this festive season.
