Ampang Jaya local draft plan to go on display from May 30

THE draft Ampang Jaya Municipal Council Local Plan 2035 (RT MPAJ) will go on a public display from May 30.

MPAJ president Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim said the plan would be available for viewing at Menara MPAJ in Pandan Indah and the state Town and Country Planning Department (PlanMalaysia@Selangor) office in Shah Alam until June 29.

“Stakeholders and the public can also view the plan on MPAJ’s website www.mpaj.gov.my which also has the objection forms.

“Weekly roadshows to publicise and invite stakeholders to participate will be held at several locations around the municipality,” he said during the full board meeting at Menara MPAJ.

The draft plan was initially slated to be ready this month but was delayed due to amendments.

The tabling of the draft plan was also delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic-related restrictions.

The initial target was to have it ready by July last year.

The RT MPAJ 2035 will replace the 2020 version, which was gazetted in 2011 and went through two amendments, in 2013 and 2016.

Last year, StarMetro reported that MPAJ had allocated about RM700,000 to hire consultants and finance production of the draft plan, which touched on land use, infrastructure, transportation, environmental conservation and tourism.

During the meeting, it was revealed that MPAJ had collected RM35mil in assessment taxes, and another RM9.2mil in arrears between January and March.

Mohd Fauzi revealed that the collection of assessment taxes and arrears recorded a 26.14% increase compared to the same period last year.

Updating on the dengue situation, he said there was a 2.1% increase in reported cases, compared to the same period last year.

“Between January 1 and April 27, there were 482 cases.

“No deaths were reported during this period, nor were there any dengue hotspots,” he added.
