Rolling out digital welcome mat

A NEW mobile app – Go Selangor – is expected to boost tourism in the state.

Tourism Selangor inked a memorandum of understanding with Tour Plus Technology at i-City, Shah Alam, on its use.

The ceremony was witnessed by state tourism, environment, green technology and Orang Asli affairs committee chairman Hee Loy Sian.

“This partnership to utilise advanced technology is in line with Tourism Selangor’s vision to promote Tourism 4.0 and tourism digitalisation,” he said.

At the event, Tourism Selangor was represented by its chief executive officer Azrul Shah Mohamad while Tour Plus Technology founder and chief executive officer Rickson Goh represented the company.

Hee said the application would boost Tourism Selangor’s digital presence and enhance tourists’ experience.

It would be good for brands and businesses too, he added.

Meanwhile, Goh said the collaboration with Tourism Selangor would allow the company to help digitalise the state’s vibrant travel industry as well as assist local tourism players.

The partnership, which is also supported by Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation, will promote Tourism Selangor’s campaigns, namely “Pusing Selangor Dulu” for the domestic market and “Splendid Selangor” for the international market.

After the signing ceremony, interactive wax museum Red Carpet 2 was welcomed as the mobile app’s first merchant.

Red Carpet 2, located in i-City, is the largest wax museum in Malaysia.

Tourism Selangor aspires to welcome close to 100,000 merchants on Go Selangor by the end of this year.
