TO show their appreciation of volunteers, the Federal Territories Ministry treated them to a buka puasa meal at Kompleks Perbadanan Putrajaya in Putrajaya.
The volunteers were involved in flood missions from Dec 18, 2021 to Jan 9 this year.
They had helped mobilise assets and provided aid, rescued people and cleaned public facilities including the homes of flood victims, among others.
The volunteers also distributed food baskets under the ministry’s MyFood@Wilayah programme at several affected areas in Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Melaka and Johor.
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the ministry wanted to show its gratitude to 1,496 volunteers.
“Tonight, we honour 420 of them in this programme.
“Although our efforts centred around Kuala Lumpur, we did not forget about the other states.
“Volunteers were sent to different parts of Selangor, Jelebu in Negri Sembilan as well as Karak, Mentakab and Temerloh in Pahang,” Shahidan said in his speech.
The volunteers also received certificates of appreciation for their efforts.
