Varsity to do biodiversity research at Straits of Johor


A group of researchers from the UMT Marine Biotechnology Institute releasing freshwater fish into Sungai Pendas Laut in Gelang Patah, Johor.

UNPLANNED development paired with high traffic of ships and boats along the Straits of Johor is feared to have a negative impact on the environment.

Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) Marine Biotechnology Institute senior lecturer Dr Mohamad Nor Azra Md Adib said the university was planning to conduct biodiversity research in the area to find a way to conserve the ecosystem.
