Deluge, power outage among reasons water treatment plants failed

THE malfunctioning of three water treatment plants (WTPs) in Selangor during the floods last December is attributed to various factors, including selected facilities overwhelmed by water or rubbish and power outage.

“The Cheras Batu 11 and Sungai Langat WTP malfunctioned from Dec 18 to 21 as the floods had submerged raw water pump stations at the two WTPs,” said state executive councillor Hee Loy Sian.
