Snacktime packed with oodles of fun

Sometimes, there’s just so much going on that one barely has time to cook. StarMetro found some easy recipes and the writer roped in family and friends to make these dishes. Here are their top 10 picks for light bites using common ingredients which can be prepared in no time at all.

1 Rice paper noodle dumplings

Combining a pack of instant noodles and Vietnamese rice paper sounds like it could turn into an intriguing snack. Prepare your favourite instant noodles — boil the noodles, drain the water and then add seasoning to it before wrapping it in slightly wet rice paper. You can add some mozzarella cheese inside if you like. Fry the roll in hot oil until golden brown. Verdict: Hot off the stove, the dumplings did not disappoint, especially as it was crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside thanks to the cheese.

2 Crispy garlic baguette

Drizzle some olive oil over a bulb of garlic and wrap it in aluminium foil. Bake it in the oven at 200°C for an hour. Mix some butter, salt and pepper in a bowl. Add spices if you want more flavour. Once the garlic is out of the oven, squeeze it out of its skin and into the butter mixture. After mixing well, spread it evenly on a baguette. You can also use regular white bread. Top it off with some mozzarella cheese and bake for another 10 minutes. Verdict: The end result was better than using store-bought garlic butter spread. My family and I could not get enough of this tasty snack.
