THE annual floating chariot festival (Theppa Thiruvizha) in the Teluk Bahang waters in Penang went green, with banana tree stems and betel nut barks used instead of polystyrene materials in the floats sent out to sea.
Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) education officer N.V. Subbarow said devotees were advised to refrain from using synthetic foam materials for the celebration.
