SPORTS Toto spread cheer to 400 senior citizens by giving donations to eight old folks’ homes in Pahang to usher in Chinese New Year (CNY).
Due to the pandemic, Sports Toto could not carry out its traditional CNY donation campaign for safety reasons, according to its executive director Nerine Tan.
She said in a statement that the company was happy it could still continue to help those in need.
Sports Toto said it made a total contribution of RM43,000 to eight old folks’ homes in Pahang.
The beneficiaries were Pusat Jagaan Kuantan Care Home For The Aged, Pusat Jagaan Orang Tua Grannies, Pusat Jagaan Alor Akar, Pusat Jagaan Rumah Orang Tua Gabungan Persatuan-Persatuan Tionghua Kuantan, Jabor Care Centre Old Folks’ Home, Pusat Jagaan Semalaysia, Pertubuhan Pengurusan Rumah Kebajikan Warga Emas Sang Riang and Fortune Senior Care Centre.
Selected old folks’ homes each received cash aid ranging from RM2,500 to RM10,000 and shopping vouchers worth RM1,500 to RM5,000, depending on the number of residents at each home, said the company.
Since the start of its CNY donation campaign in 1988, the company has given RM23mil worth of ang pow and hampers to 418,000 senior citizens.
The campaign was part of Sports Toto’s Helping Hands programme to support sustainability, sports development, food banks and environmental conservation.
