WASTE management concessionaire SWM Environment Sdn Bhd will be operating throughout the Chinese New Year period to keep the streets clean.
The company’s corporate general manager Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin said it would be work as usual for 4,145 workers handling waste management, street cleaning and recycling services at the 15 local government areas under its jurisdiction.
“The public can continue sending recyclables to our collection centres during the festive period, to avoid accumulation of waste at home.
“This is to encourage separation at source even during the festive period in order to better manage domestic waste, bulk waste, agricultural waste and recyclable items,” he added.
The waste collection concessionaire’s KitaRecycle (named after its recycling programme) counters that are operating as usual throughout the festive period are located in Bandar Dato’ Onn (Johor Baru), Pura Kencana (Batu Pahat), Kota Tinggi SWM Environment Depot, Seri Austin Gallery in Taman Seri Austin (Johor Baru) and Sunway Citrine Hub (Iskandar Puteri).
Mohd Norlisam also reminded the people to prevent food wastage during the festive celebration, to reduce the burden on landfills.
