Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) is offering free transportation to the disabled and senior citizens living in areas under its administration. The free transport is to eight health facilities in the Klang Valley for medical treatment.
The eight locations covered by the service are Hospital Shah Alam, Klinik Kesihatan Seksyen 7 Shah Alam, Klinik Kesihatan Seksyen 19 Shah Alam, Klinik Kesihatan Bukit Kuda Klang, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang, Hospital Sungai Buloh, Klinik Kesihatan Sungai Buloh and University of Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
The service is offered through MBSA’s community vehicle initiative, which uses two modified vans and a Proton Exora.
MBSA Corporate and Public Relations Division head Shahrin Ahmad said the city council wanted to meet the community need.
“Such services for the disabled and senior citizens are limited and difficult to get.
“Each van is equipped with a tail lift feature that can accommodate a person in a wheelchair. It also has wheelchair-friendly seatbelts.
“Each vehicle can accommodate two passengers and a driver,” he said.
The service is available from Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 5pm.
Requests for the service must be made a week ahead by calling MBSA’s Community Development Section at 03-5522 2732 or 03-5510 5133 ext 1381.
