Ratepayers settle arrears at two-day MBPJ campaign

Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) held a two-day assessment tax payment campaign to encourage more ratepayers to settle their assessment tax arrears.

The counter at Gugusan Dedap in Kota Damansara offered advisory services to ratepayers on how to pay assessment tax arrears, check the latest assessment bills online and update names and mailing addresses for their properties.

The first 200 ratepayers that visited the counter last month walked away with door gifts.

“According to MBPJ’s records, the assessment tax arrears for the whole of Kota Damansara is RM8.3mil involving 12,786 properties,” said MBPJ’s Corporate Communications Unit in a statement. “Of that, RM163,824 is from low-cost housing while the balance is from other kinds of properties.

“As announced in November 2021, Selangor granted an exemption on fines for late payment of the second term of assessment tax.

“All ratepayers who have yet to pay their assessment taxes for properties in areas under MBPJ’s administration, are advised to settle them soon to avoid penalties or additional charges,” said MBPJ.

The city council reminded owners of residential properties to update their ownership records through Form I, if there was any transfer of property involving new ownership.

The form must be submitted within three months after the transfer process is completed.

The form can be downloaded at https://tinyurl.com/2p9ctsvw

For details, call MBPJ’s Valuation and Property Management Department at 03-7954 5984/ 5986.

MBPJ also reminded ratepayers that the council would no longer print and post assessment tax bills.
