INITIATED 15 years ago, Gujarati Samaj Penang’s Deepavali Charity Project was the brainchild of Datin Usha Vrajlal Premchan, who wanted to give back to society and bring joy to the needy.

Together with her husband Datuk Shashikant P. Gathani, 79, who is president of the Gujarati Samaj, they meticulously ensure that several welfare and charitable homes get a fair share of food items and other necessities during the festive period.
