ALL parks under the purview of Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) have undergone a sanitisation and sprucing-up exercise before the facilities are reopened to the public today.

MBSJ held a Safe Park Programme with the Residents Representative Council at selected parks located within each of its 24 zones recently.

“The programme is a value-added initiative for residents and other visitors to public parks, in an effort to improve quality of life through health and leisure activities,” said MBSJ Corporate and Strategic Management Department deputy director Azfarizal Abdul Rashid in a statement.

“Among the activities done were the sanitisation of exercise and playground equipment and sprucing up of the park grounds.

“A similar exercise was done by contractors under MBSJ’s Landscape Department supervision across all 571 parks under MBSJ’s administration in the week leading up to Oct 1, in an effort to curb the spread of the Covid-19 disease.”

He said the reopening of all parks under MBSJ, effective from today was in line with the relaxations announced last month for the sports and recreation sector.

Subang Jaya mayor Noraini Roslan and Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han visited Lake Edge Recreational Park in Puchong to review the preparation works ahead of its reopening.

They also planted several salix babylonica (weeping willow) trees around the park in line with the council’s efforts in protecting the natural environment.

“This initiative is part of the council’s efforts to make MBSJ’s administration area a green city by 2035,” said Azfarizal.

“All park users are reminded to adhere to the SOP for sports and recreation and be mindful of their responsibilities, such as observing physical distancing, practising good hygiene and taking care of public property,” he added.

All parks under MBSJ are open from 6am to 10pm daily.
