Malls aim to boost shopper confidence

Shoppers will go through stringent checks at each mall entrance to ensure they adhere to Sunway Malls’ new entry requirements.

IN LINE with Malaysia’s twin goals to achieve herd immunity and reinvigorate the economy, Sunway Malls has launched the #SaferCommunityTogether campaign to ensure a safer and more secure environment for its mall-goers.

With more economic sectors receiving the government’s green light to operate in Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) in the Klang Valley, the group’s malls in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor are now seeing 95% shops opening up, from the 85% under Phase 1.

Sunway Malls thus acknowledges the importance of keeping its malls safe and is making this a priority for everyone.

Its malls in Penang and Johor will join in the campaign at a later date based on the progression of herd immunity in the respective states.

Sunway Malls & Theme Parks chief executive officer HC Chan shared, “As more businesses reopen for the community, it is important that heightened safety continues to be key agenda in driving assurance and confidence.

“The #SaferCommunityTogether initiative aims to collectively raise the safety bar even higher.

“This includes introducing ‘fully vaccinated entry only’ in Klang Valley’s Sunway Malls alongside other safety protocols.

“For categories of people not qualified for vaccination, exceptions will be allowed,” he said.

Upon entry, mall-goers must undergo MySejahtera registration and temperature checks to confirm that they are fully vaccinated and are considered low-risk.

Those exempt from the vaccination requirement are children between the ages of 12 and17, or those with medical conditions that do not allow them to receive the regulated vaccines.

In terms of the working population, all of Sunway Malls’ employees and retail staff will receive the protection they need for themselves in order to keep others safe.

Each Sunway Mall employee and retail worker is checked on their vaccination status and will sport a personalised “I’m Vaccinated” badge with their names and serial numbers to provide greater assurance to mall-goers.

The employees also undergo stringent daily checks to ensure that they do not pose a risk to shoppers and each other.

As keeping each other safe is a combined effort, physical distancing officers and visual reminders are positioned around the malls to remind shoppers to do their part.

Although only those fully vaccinated are allowed entry, everyone still has a responsibility to adhere to good hygiene practices, such as washing and sanitising their hands as well as wearing face masks.

Sunway Malls is also rewarding shoppers who have taken the step to get vaccinated through a series of deals and promotions.

Shoppers can redeem these #CucukDeals at participating retailers on various platforms, including the malls’ social media platforms.

For shoppers who are unable to visit the malls for prolonged periods of time or have not completed their vaccination yet, Sunway Malls has also introduced a Personal Shopper Service.

Shoppers simply need to visit the mall’s website or social media platforms and chat with the mall’s dedicated team via chatbot, FB Messenger or WhatsApp chat.

The items each shopper requires will be sourced from the mall.

Once located, the team will update shoppers to facilitate purchase and self-pick up arrangement.

Available from 11am to 9pm daily, shoppers are advised to contact the team at least one day prior to their visit to allow for enough time for the item to be sourced.

For more information, visit the social media platforms of the respective malls under the group.
