Covid-19: Section 17 market closed until Aug 13 due to detection of six cases

PETALING JAYA: Pasar Sentosa at Section 17 Petaling Jaya has been voluntarily closed by its market association from now until Aug 13 due to the detection of six Covid-19 cases.

The modern market known for its beautiful mural is located at Jalan 17/27.

The decision to close was made aware to the council, said Petaling Jaya councillor Chang She-Yun when contacted by StarMetro.

“We were informed by the association that there are six Covid-19 cases but there could be more. The cases were also among the cleaners and traders.

“The residents in this neighbourhood also understood the market’s decision to close,” said Chang.

Meanwhile, Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran said the association was not instructed to close by the Petaling Jaya City Council or by the District Health Office.

“The traders decided to close the market taking into consideration the best interest of the traders, workers and the public and this is an understandable reason.

“However if any trader decides to still open their stalls they could do so too,” he said.
