Penang North-East District Health officer Datin Dr Azizah Ab Manan said all seven traders tested positive from RTK-Ag tests.

“One was confirmed positive after undergoing an RT-PCR test while the other six are pending results from that test,” she said when met during an operation to close off part of the market

here on Thursday morning.

It is understood that the traders had earlier gone to a private clinic on their own for Covid-19 testing after exhibiting symptoms.

Batu Lanchang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong said while part of the market will be closed off, the vegetable and seafood sections will remain open until 5pm Thursday.

“After 5pm, the whole market will be closed until further notice from the state Health Department.

“We urge market traders to visit the Perak Road Clinic for screenings as well, especially those with symptoms," he said.
