TO continue its efforts in assisting families in need, Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) presented food baskets to 36 families affected financially by enhanced movement control order restrictions.

The distribution was done before the enhanced MCO ruling was lifted across the eight districts and 34 mukim (sub-districts) in Selangor.

Acting MPS president Cheremi Tarman, deputy secretary Azhar Samsuri and several councillors handed out the food baskets presented under the MPS Selayang Cares Covid-19 Assistance Programme.

“The most recent distribution, which marked MPS’ eighth round, included contributions from Gogopasar, who donated 10 boxes of fresh produce to go with the food baskets,” said MPS corporate communications director Mohamad Zin Masoad in a statement.

“Under the programme, MPS allocated RM120,000 for 2,400 units of food baskets that will be distributed in stages to families in need across all 24 zones under the municipality.”

Gogopasar is an online grocery marketplace that sells fresh produce and kitchen essentials. Its warehouse is located in Selayang.

Councillors who were present during the distribution in their respective zones were Amir Fazlee Khalid from Zone 6, Wan Anwar Wan Ibrahim from Zone 11, U Chin Ong from Zone 12, Ahmad Farizal Manaff from Zone 1, Orang Besar Daerah Gombak Tan Sri Wan Mahmood Pa’wan Teh from Zone 2 and Ahmad Usamah Zulkifli from Zone 3.
