THE disabled, senior citizens and single mothers from B40 families in Seri Setia, Lembah Subang and Kelana Jaya were among the hardcore poor who received food baskets.

The distribution was organised by Arul Arulmigu Agora Veeramma Kaliamman Hindu temple in Subang.

Each basket contained rice, biscuits, oil, sugar and canned food.

Present to distribute them was Mohamed Umar Peer Mohamed from All Petaling Jaya Selangor Residents Association Coalition.

With the Covid-19 pandemic, he said the hardcore poor were finding it difficult to make ends meet and put food on the table as many had no jobs.

“Some families are just eating one meal a day — a boiled egg, rice and kicap (soy sauce).

“It is heart-wrenching,” said Mohamed Umar.

Temple president Ganesan Veloo said he would get non-governmental organisations to contribute more food baskets to the needy living around the Lembah Subang area.
