THE Azman Hashim Foundation and Amcorp Group’s move to step forward to help people in Sibu has been lauded.

Sibu Rural District Council chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said he was thankful for the corporate social responsibility programme (CSR) undertaken by the group.

“It’s heartening to see organisations coming to the assistance of people,” he said.

While the government had been providing aid, Sempurai said assistance from all quarters would further relieve the burden of the underprivileged.

He added that this was not the first time that the Azman Hashim Foundation and Amcorp Group had contributed to the people.

Earlier this year, they had donated sanitisation packs.

For their latest CSR initiative, food aid in the form of a 10kg pack of rice, a box of instant noodles and a tray of eggs were handed to all residents at SibuJaya’s HDC Garden Terraces and four-storey flats.

Sempurai also thanked local contractor Happiwin Development Sdn Bhd for providing the manpower and logistics to transport and distribute the food aid.

He also thanked SibuJaya zone councillors Kong Yii Tee and Halimah Japar, who were the lead coordinators for the effort.
