SELANGOR Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has announced the Kita Selangor 2.0 package with a total allocation of RM551.56mil.
The incentives in the package aim to further ease the plight of residents in Selangor affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
With the theme ‘Succeed Together’, the 2.0 package also includes an allocation of RM2.55mil to be channelled to the state’s tourism industry through four incentive categories:
• Grant incentive programme/ Selangor’s tourism promotional activities
• Selangor’s Tourism Vouchers 2.0
• Selangor’s Tourism Digitalisation training programme
• One-Off incentive to 16 tourism associations in the state.
According to Selangor tourism and environment committee chairman Hee Loy Sian, this economic stimulus package is for the recovery of Selangor’s tourism industry.
It also aims to encourage the state’s industry players to continue with their promotional and marketing initiatives.
These initiatives are crucial to establishing Selangor as the preferred and premier travel destination in the country when the pandemic is over and tourists start to return.
In elaborating further, he said the allocation to the state’s tourism industry was as follows:
Grant incentive programme/ Selangor’s tourism promotional activities.
This programme amounting to RM1mil will be utilised to recover Selangor’s tourism industry through a reimbursable financial assistance method which is claimable by the state’s industry players in regard to the expenditure in the execution of tourism promotional initiatives.
The claimable amount based on one entry/execution is 50% of the total expenditure, or maximum eligibility of RM20,000; whichever is lower.
Selangor’s Tourism Vouchers 2.0The second phase to Selangor’s tourism voucher subsidy will run on a further RM1mil allocation. A total of 20,000 units of tourism vouchers worth RM50 each will be disseminated via the e-commerce platform to ensure the general public’s eligibility in redeeming these tourism vouchers.
Selangor’s Tourism Digitalisation training programme Tourism Selangor will collaborate with Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC) in organising a virtual Selangor’s Tourism Digitalisation training programme which aims to create tourism awareness and hone industry players’ skills, knowledge and productivity in online marketing and digitalisation. This approach will involve a cost of almost RM300,000.
One-Off incentive to 16 tourism associationsTourism associations in Selangor are having a tough time delivering on their roles and functions in providing support to all their registered members, especially in the absence of financial assistance from the state.
Acknowledging this fact, a one-off incentive amounting to RM240,000 will be channelled to 16 tourism associations in Selangor, with each getting RM15,000 to execute promotional activities, which are expected to keep the momentum of this industry positive in the state.
