Quit rent payment deadline extended

Wan Rosdy hopes the extension will provide enough time for landowners to settle payment.

THE 2021 quit rent payment period for all registered landowners in Pahang has been extended to Aug 31 in view of the movement control order (MCO).

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said that due to the extension from the original deadline of May 31, the late payment fine of 10% of the value of quit rent would be imposed only from Sept 1.

“This decision was made because the Pahang government is very concerned about the problems faced by the people after the latest nationwide MCO to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The strict measure has restricted movement and services throughout the country, resulting in losses to the landowners, ” said Wan Rosdy.

Nonetheless, he said the state government greatly appreciated the efforts of landowners to pay their quit rent within the stipulated period.

“It is hoped that the extension of the deadline for payment will provide enough time for them to fulfil their responsibility to settle their quit rent, ” said Wan Rosdy.
