VITAL water sources in Selangor are being monitored round the clock to avoid any supply disruption during Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season and the movement control order period.

Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) said its Pantas Squad was constantly monitoring Sungai Selangor and Sungai Kelang as well as dams to ensure that water treatment plants were fully functioning.

Apart from patrolling the riverbanks, LUAS said in-situ sampling was carried out at strategic locations.

“As of May 11, LUAS had prevented 24 incidents of pollution that could have affected the operations of water treatment plants.

“So far, there have been no cases which have caused the suspension of the plants, ” it said in a statement.

LUAS added that alternative water sources, such as the off-river storage in Bestari Jaya, were on standby in the event of any incidents.

The public is urged to email aduan@luas.gov.my or WhatsApp 019-264 7904 if they come across any water polluting activity.

Under Section 104 (4) of the LUAS Enactment 1999 (Amendment 2020), a reward can be offered to any individual who provides information in respect of the detection of any offence under the enactment, subject to conditions.
