Council sees bigger licence fee collection for 2020

THE Seberang Prai City Council has collected RM15.18mil in business licensing fees for 2020.

Council mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the amount was an increase of 37.9% compared with its collection of RM11.01mil in 2019.

He believed the increase was due to the council’s three-month promotional programme carried out between Dec 1 and Feb 28 this year.

Rozali was speaking after chairing a full council meeting.

He said, however, there were still 4,728 business licence holders who had not yet renewed their licences or had expired licences.

He urged them to renew their licences or risk having them automatically revoked.

“Traders can also face court action for conducting business without a valid licence, ” he said.

Payment can be done online at the council website or over the counter at council headquarters.

Earlier, 20 lucky business licence holders who paid during the promotional period won cash prizes amounting to RM10,300.
