THE Subang Jaya assemblyman’s office has upgraded the concrete staircase leading up to three places of worship in SS13, Subang Jaya, Selangor, making it safer for devotees.
The staircase is the main access route behind Gurdwara Sahib Subang, Subang Jaya Buddhist Association and Kuil Sri Varatharaja from a dedicated parking lot.
Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng said the upgrading project cost RM19,996.
“Before the facelift, the staircase only had a railing on one side, while the steps were uneven and different in size.
“The route was not well-lit and a safety hazard for children and senior citizens who visited the temple.
“The upgrading work included fixing the steps and adding another railing on the other side, ” said Ng in a statement.
Six environmental-friendly solar-powered lamps were also installed.
“We hope the new staircase provides much-needed convenience and safety to devotees, ” Ng added.
Before the upgrading work, the area surrounding the staircase was unkempt.
Committee members from the three houses of worship have since cleared the area through a gotong-royong and will jointly maintain the area in future.
Ng’s office also provided equipment for the clean-up.
