PETALING JAYA: The Ayer Hitam parliamentary service centre has collected about 10,000 sets of essential items to be distributed to needy families during Ramadan.

Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said volunteers have started distributing the items since last week, and will continue moving around the constituency to offer their assistance as they have done for years.

"My schedule at the (Transport) ministry is packed, but I, have never forgotten about the welfare of my constituents, especially while we're all still overcoming challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.,

"In fact, we've been hitting the ground since even before Ramadan. We think it is important to visit and get to know our constituents," the Transport Minister said on Facebook on Wednesday (April 14).

Dr Wee, who is also MCA president also expressed his appreciation to volunteers who worked to deliver items such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, flour and dates to the selected households.

The teams, led by Dr Wee's political secretary Ling Tian Soon, have channelled the aid to various places including a tahfiz school in Kg Ngamarto in Yong Peng.

"They have worked tirelessly to carry and transport these goods, and I will never forget their deeds," he said.
