ABOUT 10,000 households in the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary constituency are set to receive essential items worth almost RM300,000.
The items are being distributed by Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya under the ‘Program Baucer Sumbangan Prihatin Parlimen Tasek Gelugor’ held at the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary service centre in Penang.
“This programme is a continuation of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s Prihatin Malaysia Programme.
“This is also our effort to execute the Federal Government’s policies in helping the people, especially at the grassroots level, ” he said before flagging off lorries ferrying the items.
Among the items given out were rice and cooking oil.
Shabudin said the programme showed the government’s commitment in helping the people improve their standard of living, especially those from underprivileged groups.
“The items will be distributed to people living in the parliamentary constituency, namely Teluk Ayer Tawar, Sungai Dua and Permatang Berangan.
“The items will be distributed to needy families regardless of their party or political allegiance.
“Each household will also be given 25 face masks for them to use.
“This is to encourage the people in Tasek Gelugor to follow the standard operating procedures and new norms, ” he said, adding that such programmes would continue from time to time.
