FREE parking stickers will be available for the disabled (OKU) upon online submission to the Seberang Prai City Council (MBSP).
MBSP mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the initiative was to assist disabled people in Seberang Prai in obtaining the stickers.
“This alternative is the country’s current new normal work style in the Covid-19 pandemic, which is also in line with the current development of digital transformation technology, ” he said.
Rozali said those applying for the free sticker would need to browse the council’s website at www.mbsp.gov.my, select Cyber Counter and click on the OKU free vehicle sticker section.
“Applicants will also be asked to register their email before submitting.
“They will also need to upload several supporting documents such as their OKU card issued by the Social Welfare Department, driving license, identity card, photograph and vehicle ownership certificate in the applicant’s or guardian’s name.
“If the applicant is a guardian of the disabled, they will need to upload documents confirming their relationship with the relevant disabled.
“Among the documents required are marriage certificate, birth certificate or documents that prove their family relationship, ” he said.
Rozali added that each applicant can only apply for one vehicle, adding that the sticker is valid for two years.
Applicants can check their notification or application status in the same system.
“Applicants have to check online on where to collect their sticker, whether at MBSP’s headquarters in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam, or at its branch offices in north Seberang Prai or south Seberang Prai districts.
“The user’s manual for the free parking sticker will be available online.”
Rozali was speaking to reporters after launching the online application for the OKU free parking stickers at the MBSP headquarters in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam recently.
Also present were MBSP secretary Rosnani Mahmod, and councillors P. David Marshel and Muhamad Suzuki Ahmad.
Rozali also said for the period of 2019/2020, a total of 727 stickers were issued, while 687 stickers were issued for 2020/2021.
For the period of 2021/2022 (until March 10,2021), a total of 451 stickers were issued.
