AN ELDERLY man living in a dilapidated shack in Kampung Baru Salak Selatan, Kuala Lumpur, now has a more comfortable roof over his head.
Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa helped ensure Leong Choong Keong, 64, was given a fully-furnished unit at PPR Salak Selatan.
“We found out that Leong had been living in this shack for the past three years and we had to do something about it.
“During the process of securing him a unit, we discovered that his two elderly siblings were also in poor condition with health issues.
“We are glad that they have been reunited and will be living together in the three-bedroom unit, ” Annuar said after a key handover ceremony.
Choong’s plight was brought to the attention of Annuar by Kuan Chee Heng, affectionately known as Uncle Kentang.
Annuar added that he would personally be paying for Leong’s monthly rental for the PPR unit.
Also present were Federal Territories Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Rosida Jaafar, Kuala Lumpur City Hall executive director (socio-economic development) Anwar Mohd Zain and Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan chief executive officer Zaizalnizam Zainun.
