“He used to earn about RM3,000 a month. But now he can no longer work, ” she said when contacted.
Lai is unable to go out to work as she needs to take care of Chan while their only child is sitting for his SPM examination.
Lai, from Taman Menglembu Impiana Adril, said the family’s monthly expenses was about RM2,000.
“The money is needed for our daily expenses, to pay bills and to buy medical equipment, milk powder and adult diapers for my husband, ” she said, adding that the accident happened when Chan tried to avoid a dog on the road while on his way to work near Lahat.
She said family and friends raised about RM10,000 last year but the money is almost gone.
Shan De Charity Home chairman Foong Chee Seng, who visited the family and donated RM2,350, said they were trying to collect funds to help the family.
