Telco works round the clock to ensure flood victims stay connected

Digi team got down to the ground at flooded areas in several states to conduct network restoration during the monsoon season.

DIGI Telecommunications Sdn Bhd’s (Digi) network operations team worked round the clock to conduct network restoration to ensure flood victims stayed connected during another intense monsoon season.

Earlier this year, around 130 of Digi’s network sites in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Johor, Sabah

and Sarawak were impacted by floods that caused power failures and damaged fibre cables and equipment affecting access to the Internet.

Responding to this, Digi’s network operations team were mobilised quickly to assess and repair the damages to minimise service disruption.

Restoration works were hindered in some areas as roads were either submerged or obstructed by landslides.

Working together with its network partner Ericsson, with support from the local authorities and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s regional offices, power generators were deployed for repair works.
