LOCALS in Bukit Mertajam town on mainland Penang are able to feel the Chinese New Year festive mood despite the economy downturn from Covid-19 pandemic.

Some 3,000 bright red lanterns have been installed to put the glow over several main roads within the town centre, where locals usually converge on during the festival.
