OVER 1,000 red lanterns will be put up in the George Town heritage enclave to usher in the Chinese New Year.

Choo Boon Chiang, who is the main planner of Miao Hui, Penang’s popular Chinese New Year celebration, said the lanterns would be put up along the streets, especially those with clan houses and associations.
