Art competition for public housing children

THE Raja Zarith Sofiah of Johor Foundation is organising an environmental-themed art competition for children at people’s housing project (PPR) and rumah sewa kerajaan (RSK).

In a statement, it said that the competition was open to residents aged four to 18 in several housing projects located within the Johor Baru district.

The competition, themed Appreciating the Beauty of Nature (Hayatilah Keindahan Alam Sekitar), is divided into five categories: Category 1 (ages four to six), Category 2 (ages seven to nine), Category 3 (ages 10 to 12), Category 4 (ages 13 to 15) and Category 5 (ages 16 to 18).

“Participants will be provided with drawing paper and colouring sets like crayons, colour pencils and watercolours, depending on their categories.

“They are required to create their artwork according to a sub-theme provided, suitable for their respective age groups and categories, ” the statement said.

The PPRs involved in the competition are PPR Kempas Permai, PPR Sri Iskandar, PPR Sri Stulang, PPR Melana Indah, PPR Desa Mutiara, PPR Setia Indah, PPR Uda Utama and PPR Seri Alam while the RSKs are RSK Larkin, RSK Kangkar Pulai and RSK Cendana.

Participation forms can be obtained from the PPR and RSK management offices from Jan 5.

All those who take part will receive a certificate.

“Winners will receive cash prizes and a chance to display their artwork before Johor Permaisuri Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah, ” it added.

The competition is in collaboration with Johor Baru District Office, Johor State Secretariat (Housing Division), Johor Wives of Civil Servants and Women Civil Servants Association (Puspanita) and PIJ Holdings.
