Airport traders lament loss of income caused by pandemic

Airport traders in Kota Kinabalu are racking their brains to come up with money to pay for stall rental and workers’ salaries amid zero income since the start of the movement control order in March last year.

A group of them said that apart from not having earned a single sen following the closure of airport activities and borders due to the pandemic, they also had to continue paying rent.

“We have had no business since March but we have been asked to pay up the rent, ” said one of the business operators, who did not want to be named.
