GUESTS at a Christmas-themed wedding dinner in Penang were delighted to see Santa Claus and Santarinas during the food presentation segment.
A short sketch by Santa Claus and Santarinas saw many of the guests taking pictures of the special moment.
A guest who wished to be known only as Sara, 30, said it was a pleasant surprise for everyone.
Bridegroom Ooi Wern Thong, 26, said everything had to be done at the eleventh hour due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The guests all observed the new norm at the wedding dinner held at Vangohh Eminent Hotel in Machang Bubok and there were only six to a table.
“I’m glad that the wedding dinner went smoothly, ” said Ooi who is an engineer.
“We were surprised with the Christmas-themed food presentation. We have not seen this arrangement anywhere else, ” he added.
The hotel’s event and vantage senior manager K.C. Ooi said his team decided to think out of the box to infuse the element of Christmas in the food presentation.
“We wanted to make the dinner a memorable experience for the couple and their guests.
“We knew the couple was under a lot of stress and after discussing our plan with them, they agreed with our idea to give their guests a surprise.
“My team and I came out with a short and funny sketch.
“I put on a Santa Claus costume and my colleagues dressed up as Santarinas. We also gave small gifts, ” he said.
