THE Selangor government will be conducting targeted community screening at four neighbourhoods around the Meru area in Klang to assist in Covid-19 tracking efforts.

The screening covers the following neighbourhoods - Taman Meru 3, Taman Seri Meru, Taman Bayu and Taman Desa Permai.

It will be held on Wednesday (Dec 2), from 9am to 2pm at Dewan Masyarakat Taman Meru 3, Klang.

“The Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) held a meeting to discuss the sudden increase in Covid-19 cases in Selangor, particularly on the enhanced MCO at the Top Glove factory workers’ dormitories,” Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said in a statement on Monday (Nov 30).

“STFC came up with several recommendations in order to reduce the spread of this epidemic and to allay the public’s anxiety on this matter, hence the targeted community screening,” he said.

The screening for the neighbourhoods located near the Teratai cluster is jointly organised by state subsidiary Selcare, the Klang District Health Office and non-governmental organisation IMAM Response and Relief Team (Imaret).

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had on Monday (Nov 30) announced that the enhanced MCO on Top Glove factory workers’ dormitories would be extended to Dec 14, due to the high rate of positive Covid-19 cases among the workers there.

The Teratai cluster in Klang remains the biggest cluster in the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia, with 4,278 positive cases detected as of Nov 30.

Amirudin added that the Selangkah system would, for the first time, be used to register and upload the results of those undergoing the screening.

To facilitate the registration process, he said residents in the four neighbourhoods could pre-register via
