STAR Media Group’s Eric Tan Guan Cheong was among 13 journalists who received letters of commendation from Kedah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
They were recognised for their accurate and fair reporting of news related to MACC during the ‘2020 Appreciation Night
With Strategic Partners’ at the banquet hall of Syarikat Air Darul Aman Sdn Bhd in Alor Setar.
Separately, Kedah MACC director Datuk Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap also gave an appreciation certificate to Star Media Group Berhad which was received by Tan and witnessed by State Secretary Datuk Ammar Shaikh Mahmood Naim.
The other recipients were Fakhrul Razi Ismail (RTM), Kumaran Rajamoney (TV3), Yeoh Lay Sian (Guang Ming Daily), Norlida Akmar Idros (Kosmo), Rhoma Ahmad Razali (Bernama), Mohd Zaid Mohd Noor (Utusan Malaysia), Abdul Hadi Che Awang (Astro Awani), Salim Aziz (Astro Awani), Nor Syafiqah Abd Razak (Warta Kedah), Chin Ai Tee (China Press), Ooi Xiaw Hui (Kwong Wah Yit Poh) and Ng Eng Boon (Sin Chew Daily).
In his speech, Shaharom thanked the media practitioners for playing a major role in conveying messages and news related to corruption and misconduct involving various parties and individuals in the state.
“I hope the excellent cooperation between the media and the MACC will continue in conveying accurate information to the public.
“It will enhance public confidence in news related to corruption.
“Kedah MACC is always ready to work with any agency or organisation, in organising corruption prevention programmes and integrity strengthening programmes particular among civil servants and members of the community, ” he said.
Present were Kedah Mentri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, Kedah police chief Comm Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan, various government department heads and MACC officers.
This is the second year Kedah MACC had held an appreciation night with strategic partners.
