SIXTY families affected by the recent flash floods in Rasah, Negri Sembilan, received contributions in the form of flour and sugar from Rasah MCA.
The donation was aimed at enabling the families to make festive snacks such as murukku for Deepavali.
Its secretary Ng Kian Nam said the contributions, worth RM30 each, were to help families affected by the floods as well as the
Covid-19 pandemic to celebrate the festival.
“This is our small way of helping them usher in the Festival of Lights, ” he said after presenting the items to Rasah MIC chief R. Krishnan.
Ng, who heads the party’s Civil Society Movement national bureau, said Rasah MCA had also distributed 40 packs of essentials to cleaners at Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar in Seremban.
“This is our way of showing appreciation for their work as they are Covid-19 frontliners too, ” he said.
Also present at the event was Lazuli Buddhist Devotees Association chairman Lau Sek Yan.
She said the organisation distributed soap and cereals to Deepavali celebrants in Rasah.
“Although we are only a month-old organisation, we wanted to play our part in helping them, ” she added.
