CONTINUING with Star Media Group’s mission of providing quality reading materials to the children of frontliners, 4,300 copies of Kuntum educational magazines worth RM15,000 were distributed through the “Kuntum Bersamamu” programme at nine locations in Melaka and Johor.

Sponsored by UOB Malaysia, the contributions were to show appreciation to frontliners, with the hope that the donation would benefit children, especially during this time when they are not able to attend school.

The “Kuntum Bersamamu” programme provided a platform for UOB Malaysia to reach out to the local community in line with the bank’s key corporate social responsibility focus areas of the arts, education and children.

In Melaka, Kuntum magazines were donated to Hospital Melaka, Melaka Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) and Melaka Civil Defence Force (APM).

Receiving the contributions were the hospital’s management deputy director Mohd Fairul Zaman Abdul Manan, IPK administrative staff officer DSP Rahim Dollah and APM executive officer Hamdan Samsudin.

Led by Kuntum editor Norlia Jaafar, the team then made their way to six locations in Johor — Kem Mahkota Kluang, Johor Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), Johor Fire and Rescue Department, Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Kem Ulu Tiram and Kem Tebrau.

They delivered the magazines to Kem Mahkota Kluang 7 Brigade education officer Lt Azuraanisah; Johor Fire and Rescue Department head of public relations unit Abdul Rahman Azezulkifle Sahimi and the hospital’s senior principal assistant director (management) Huzaimi Amir Zainudin.

The “Kuntum Bersamamu” team also presented the magazines to Kem Ulu Tiram Sixth Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment commanding officer Lt-Kol Mohamad Fairus Md Salleh and Kem Tebrau 501 Regiment AW training officer Lt-Kol Seberi Mohamad Ali.

At the Johor IPK, head of management department ASP Razak Md Said received 800 copies of Kuntum magazines and The Star’s education pullout Step Up.

The “Kuntum Bersamamu” programme recipients were thankful for the contribution and said it would encourage their children to read more while at home.

The “Kuntum Bersamamu” team’s accommodation in Melaka was sponsored by MITC Hotel, Ayer Keroh.
