Assessment tax exemptions for villages, low-cost housing to continue in S'gor in 2021

RESIDENTS in village houses and low-cost housing do not need to pay property tax assessments for 2021.

Local government, public transport and new village development committee chairman Ng Sze Han (pic) told the Selangor state assembly that the state government decided to continue the exemption incentive on assessment tax for villagers and low cost residents that had been ongoing since 2016.

“Trading license fees for petty traders would also be exempt in line with Selangor's Budget 2021, ” he said.

“On an average, 500,000 properties were exempted from tax assessment from 2016 to 2020, totalling more than RM300mil, ” he said.

Ng added that for 2021, the exemptions being given due to the impact of Covid-19 would amount to RM70mil.

“Opposition members had also been asking the state legislative assembly to extend the exemptions due to Covid-19, ” he added.
