Strict measures to contain pandemic

KUANTAN: The Pahang government is imposing additional measures to control the spread of Covid-19.

State secretary Datuk Seri Dr Sallehuddin Ishak said premises that violated the fixed operating hours and recovery movement control order (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by the authorities would be closed for three days.

For the second offence, premises would be closed for seven days and following that, 14 days for third time offenders.Premises found to have positive Covid-19 cases would also be closed for three days to allow sanitisation works while premises that had more than 10% close contact cases would be ordered to close for 14 days.

Sallehuddin said local authorities would monitor and inspect all business premises and rate them to encourage SOP compliance throughout the MCO.

As for celebrations, attendance must be limited to 100 people only at any one time.

Sallehuddin said the local authorities and police will be observing and enforcement action, including arrests, would be taken against the organiser or the host of the event.

“For wedding feasts, the organiser or host has to obtain permission first by using the form issued by the Pahang Islamic Religious Department through their district religious offices.

“Non-muslims on the other hand can apply through district and land offices,” he said in a statement. — By ONG HAN SEAN
