THE Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) had torn down four illegal makeshift structures during a raid at an illegal dumpsite at Jalan Ulu Yam, Sungai Tua, Gombak.

The move was made under Section 70(1) of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974, MPS said.

The joint operation on state land on Oct 26 was led by MPS with the Gombak Lands and Mines Office (PTDG), the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

PTDG also seized two vehicles found at the site under the National Land Code 1965, MPS said in a statement Friday (Oct 30).

“Authorities found evidence of open burning at the site at 4pm on Oct 28.

"It was suspected it was done by the illegal dumpsite operators," it added.

A huge part of the site was destroyed, making it difficult for authorities to monitor and rehabilitate the soil.

A police report was also made.
