Frontliners treated to tasty meal

PENANG Muslim League honoured frontliners with a sumptuous nasi kandar meal to show appreciation for their service and sacrifice during this Covid-19 pandemic.

Among the frontliners were Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Penang director Lt Kol Q’bert John Martin Quadra, who described the pandemic as “a completely new ballgame”.

“We are trained for every type of situation and always have protective gear.

“We are stationed at quarantine centres,” he said when met at the event held at Penang Muslim League’s building in Queen Street, George Town.

Quadra said there are around 400 active APM personnel in Penang.

“It is nice of Penang Muslim League to have an appreciation ceremony for us. “I encourage the league

members to extend the appreciation to teachers and others who should be considered frontliners as well,” he said.

Agencies and organisations were given a plaque and a certificate of appreciation at the event.

Penang Muslim League president Datuk Najmudeen Kader said they honoured frontliners from the state Health Department, the police, Penang Island City Council, Seberang Prai City Council, Fire and Rescue Department,

Volunteers and many others who took the initiative to help the needy when the movement control order was implemented.

“We are grateful to frontliners including non-governmental organisations who have dedicated their time and made a lot of effort to keep us safe.

“They have helped contain the virus,” he said.
