TO raise awareness on suicide prevention and depression, the Penang government is organising a column-writing competition for those who wish to demonstrate their creativity.
State youth and sports committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said the contest is open to those aged between 15 and 30 from Penang or staying in the state with no limit on entries.
Themed ‘Youth for Future: Fight Depression’, the contest marks Suicide Prevention Month in September.
“The essays must not be longer than 300 words and the contest closing date is Oct 20,” he said at a press conference in Komtar.
Soon said participants can scan the QR code on the poster or on the Facebook page of Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC).
The three best entries in each category – Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin and Tamil – will win RM200 cash each.
