Traffic island woes for Kepong motorists

Motorists find that the traffic island along Jalan Metro Perdana Barat is making congestion worse in the area.

A traffic island at Jalan Metro Perdana Barat, Kepong is worsening congestion in the area, claim motorists.

It blocks vehicles from Jalan 15/34c or Jalan Metro Perdana to go to Jalan Metro Perdana, as such motorists avoid the traffic island.

Fortune Park Residents Association chairman Chan Fatt Seong said the island contributed to the traffic jam in in Taman Usahawan.

“It lengthens travel time from three to 10 minutes for those going to Jalan Besar Kepong, ” he said.

Kepong Community Service Centre head Yee Poh Ping said it had gotten worse recently as vehicles from Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) would take Jalan Metro Perdana Barat as a short cut to Jalan Besar Kepong.

“We want the traffic island removed so that traffic flow would not be obstructed, ” he said.
